After the attack earlier this week in Ohio, trump has finally decided to put one of his earliest plans into action. During the earlier stages of his campaign, he made a public statement in which he claimed that he wanted to prevent Muslims from entering the United States until the terrorist problem has been solved.
At a recent rally, he stated, “I want a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering
this country until the terrorist problem that we have encountered has been solved.” Many argued that doing so would be unconstitutio
nal, as the United States were founded upon freedom and equality for all.
When the United States was founded, it was under the premise that equali
ty would be shared with all and before Trump’s campaign these “unalienable” rights have never been challenged. Now some say that these aren’t rights to those who wish to harm the country, but should only be afforded to those who want to coexist peacefully.
Trump never directly followed up on what he said about Muslim people during that rally until earlier this week. He came forward in a press conference after the attack and said, “These are the kinds of problem people that we have entering this country. If we do not impose a complete ban on all Muslims entering the country then these attacks will only become more and more frequent. We must act before more innocent civilians are injured or killed from these hateful people.” Now, we can only wait and hope that he makes the right decision before more of our fellow Americans die.
